I faced a problen when updating to the newest Sailfish Version. I noticed that I had only about 1 gb of free space in phone memory. First I thought that all the pics and videos were eating the space, so I moved them to SD card. However, it freed only 1 gb more, so now I have about 2 gb of free space. I tried to look for the "space eater" using the file browser, but could not locate it. Anyone know what would be the most common reason eating up the space on phone memory? I also removed all the APKs etc, but didnt help much...

Space Inspector is a nice and easy app to find out what is eating the space.

Yes you could check your space consumption with space inspector. But I think your Backup folder (.vault) is using the space - especially if you are backing up your gallery it will need very much space. To free up ALL space which is used by your backups you can install the native 'Utilities' app by Jolla from Jolla Store and delete your backups under settings > System > Utilities. Also if your device has just some GBs of free space you have to let run the btrfs balancing (see answer by Phillipe). :)

Have a look here: https://together.jolla.com/question/30822/root-and-home-disks-full-and-causing-various-problems/

The btrfs balance might fix your issue, but is not 100% safe
