Hi everybody,

I would like to have a blocklist for numbers which should not call/sms me. Or a whitelist feature which only allows numbers from my phonebook.

Blocking for sms could be also based on spamword detection as described here: https://together.jolla.com/question/7675/idea-sms-spam-detection-based-on-keywords-and-unknown-sender/

Highly needed, please... Still not in v2.1.1.x...
not here in 2020, v3.2.1.x

Well, just to let you know, I've been working on a call blocker. It's currently available on OpenRepos, and I might also try to get it into Jolla Store once I feel confident enough about it.

It can block calls, but SMS blocking seems to be impossible unless Jolla does some changes to the commhistory daemon (see my project's Wiki page for an explanation)

This looks very good. Any idea when you will have this on the Jolla Store ?

Well, it's starting to take shape, I could probably try to upload it there soon, it's mostly just that I still don't have an icon.

Did you ever get any comment from Jolla on why this text message handling daemon is registering itself as an observer? Blocking spam text messages would be something good to have in place.

It doesn't work any longer. I received a call today from a blocked number.

We have now 2019 and Sailfish 3.1 is at the doorstep... can Jolla coment on this topic? As this feature should be a standard functionality in a secure mobile OS like Sailfish wants to be... especially when the main focus at the moment is to provide solutions to governmental and corporate partners etc... or should we ask that on the community meetings?

Sailfish in a nutshell: Basic, mandatory functionality we had 10 years ago on our Nokias is still missing - but hey, we're working hard to bring you Android functionality! Hey Jolla - the only reason I'm using Sailfish is because I DESPISE Google & Android...

lol I can't believe this question was asked in 2013, OH WAIT yes I can! This is everything wrong with SFOS, basics still years away . . . . . . . how the fuck do they sell this to the russians? Hey lads, it's not android or IOS but if you sort your own apps out it might not be half bad? I want to dislike android and have done for years, but you know what, it works, you can block a call a piece of piss, you can use it daily without issue, and you don't have to add custom scripts to add basic functionality that get wiped out on an update, because the basic OS works, and has features. I bought an XA2 and flashed it, couldn't use it for he first 8 months daily cos of the piss poor battery life! Then I bought an Ultra, and I haven't flashed it, and unless this OS catches up soon I never will. This was always going to be my last year using SFOS cos I'm just sick of the excuses and lack of communication from Jolla re development, and as fun as it was to be on the bleeding edge when I bought my J1, 5 years+ down the line the novelty's worn off because in reality, we haven't 'really' moved on, so I think I'll be throwing in the towel and jumping ship to /e/ or similar.

It would be nice to connect these lists to Ambiences or otherwise have several lists.

The enablers are there - our ofono supports sms/call filter plugins since last year (yes, something is happening!). When I designed those interfaces, I had this feature in mind too. If we had enough resources, we would have done the remaining parts already. The remaining parts are (as I see it) 1) on-demand dbus service maintaining white/black lists and logs, 2) ofono plugin (for actually ignoring sms and rejecting/dropping calls) and 3) ui to configure white/black lists and view the logs. If somebody is willing to contribute, I'm could review the code (and the architecture) but at this point it looks unlikely that someone at Jolla would start to actively work on it this year. Unless someone does it during his vacation :)

Black-list and white-list, both would be useful for calls but also for SMS! We could find these kinds of options (coming from "AntiSpam" a MIUI app):

<-----------Reload the page if you can't see the picture below-----------------> Call and SMS rules

This is of course just an example to illustrate the case.

Yes, it would be very nice to have a related auto-responder: if someone call to me and I am unavailable, just send a SMS or a chat text, or even an email if available. What do you think about it?

Please add a blacklist for the phone ASAP. Aggressive and fraudulent calls are increasing at an incredible rate. It's an essential security feature, we cannot still live without it.

I'm insisting on this. I am receiving calls from Tunisia numbers which are known to draw hundreds of Euros of credit when recalled. These calls are stored in the incoming call list and could be called if pressed by accident. PLEASE ADD A CALL BLOCKER ASAP. IT IS A CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURE. MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN PROTECTION FROM GOOGLE SPYWARE CONSPIRACY THEORIES. ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FEATURE. PLEASE ADD IT ASAP.

Yes I had the same problem, but I use the app Phonebook. It works good for me. This blooked all saved numbers.

@Ralf Thank you, but why should I install a third-party app which is constantly recommended by Jolla themselves to be uninstalled prior to each upgrade (although it's not required any more, but nevertheless Jolla does still recommend to uninstall it) to get a basic dialer function that is moreover trivial to implement?

@Giacomo Di Giacomo - yes this is right, the dealer could be have more functions. For me it need also a automatic reminder function for mnissed calls. In the moment it have only a manual function for it.

And phonehook (a great piece of SW btw) does not filter out SMS spam, which is also annoying and can be dangerous. Once there was a blocking issue for SMS filtering. Is it still valid?

I do support this feature request!

It should be part of basic phone functionality, unwanted calls as well as unwanted SMS are just so annoying.

Why is @jolla not simply implementing this app into the system settings, it would exactely offer this function. Which is indispensable for state employees or business customers. The only thing preventing me from using it, is that some users reported that some non blocked calls or sms didn't get through. But this should probably be no problem for Jolla to look and fix up :)

Well, I visited the Indiegogo page and tried to visit your official website. It's dead. How do you expect to attract any donors? Or is your project also dead? Just curious because ScumStopper stopped working.
