Fastmail is a major independent email provider. Besides IMAP to access email they provide CalDAV and CardDAV to sync calendar and contact along with their own XMPP server. Adding Fastmail in the Accounts to configure all their services just like it is possible now with Google account would make this an interesting alternative to Google's services for Jolla users who would like to free themselves from ads and analyzing their mail for commercial purposes.

This could also be the first step to a partnership with Fastmail to support JMAP, new protocol to access email designed with mobile devices in mind (developed at Fastmail but completely open-source, an alternative to the much outdated IMAP). Question regarding JMAP here.

+1 And if Jolla is interested, they could also become a reseller of Fastmail and make some money in the process too.

Agreed, this would be fantastic. I've never been able to get CardDav sync working either with FastMail and Jolla.

Indeed, getting CardDav to work with my own test server was extremely hard work, with lots and lots of debugging to guess how Sailfish builds the URLs. Getting it to work with Fastmail seems impossible. :(

In fact, after my comments today, i can say that Caldav is ok in two ways betwen our Jolla & fastmail.

1: each account need a specific password for each device /app. For exemple k9mail on Jolla and Jolla account for caldav have each a password. So the first thin is to create a new password.

2: then you have to follow fastmail's instructions : https://www.fastmail.com/help/technical/servernamesandports.html?u=a0a940ae

But i do not find a solution for carddav :-(

sorry for my poor englsh

I can get CardDAV to sort of work with FastMail using an app password. However, what happens is that after a while it stops working. I have to delete and re-create the account every couple of months. The last time I did this was at the beginning of this week (i.e. just before the update to 3.0.0.8). One symptom of it stopping working is that contacts created under Sailfish don't get pushed or linked to FastMail.

On the plus side, autodiscovery on FastMail worked lat time, so it was easier to set up the new account than it had been before.

It works here (two old jolla 1 with fastmail caldav/carddav/email). I followed the fastmail description. Important: I created TWO separate accounts: one for caldav and one for carddav. Another account for email.
