Nikon D5300 worked using wifi with Jolla!
I just tried qDslrDashboard_V0.2.6_Android_ARM on my Jolla, and it worked! You can download it from:
http://dslrdashboard.info/downloads/ <-- Android ARM version.
Activate wifi on your Nikon camera, then search for WiFi on Jolla and connect to the WiFi provided by the camera (NIKON_something)
It gives access to many controls on your camera. And also taking pictures and save them on your Jolla, viewing them in Gallery. Also it was surprised how much same was the application on my Jolla with the linux version of this program.
Note that on dslrdashboard site they say it works with some Canon and Sony cameras too.
If anyone needs screenshots or have any questions let me know ;)
These are great news for all photographers here. What about other cameras? Is gphoto2 working on sailfish? Otherwise there shouldn't be no major limitation to connect digital cameras to jolla I suppose...

Nokia7710 ( 2015-02-22 22:02:34 +0200 )editnice that my post helped already someone else! I looked for source code and didn't find any on their site, and the forum was down. I emailed them, I'll write when I have any news.
I found one more pc-windows software which gives source code: http://digicamcontrol.com/download . I didn't test it but if it works, maybe it could be a good start for someone to build a native application ;)
nas ( 2015-02-22 22:48:10 +0200 )editI got respond from qDslrDashboard:
Hi qDslrDashboard is not open source. I should get a Jolla tablet but not sure yet when and will try to build qDD for it.
So even he doesn't share the code openly, there is a chance to make a native application which I hope will work not only in tablet ;)
But anyway, even with android app, I am very very happy
nas ( 2015-02-23 13:19:15 +0200 )editDoes the connection work when you plug the Nikon via USB (and an OTG cable)? This would be cool for those with non-wifi-enabled cameras, like the D5200 and earlier for Nikons...
