I have some very old numbers of contacts that are still saved on my SIM Card but I already saved the new number in my Phone. Now I would like to delete or change the old number but I can only see them in the contacts app (World icon). If I want to delete them I have to un-link the contact with the sim contact and then I can delete them, but why?

Is this a bug or a feature I simply can not understand?

What I have also seen is that deleted contacts from the SIM card are back in my contacts after I restart the phone. Do they just get marked as deleted and are still there?

Jolla phone does not have the capability to edit sim contents.

Oh, why? Is there a special reason? I thought this is one of the first things a phone should be able to do? Is it a licence or implementation problem ?

I dont know why, thats a question for Jolla I guess. I also would have liked to have this feature, but alas, I now have 2 phones that are NOT capable of editing SIMs. Ridiculous.

Licensing issue?, I doubt it, all though I have no alternative idea to offer you. In the end, I used one of my OLD 3G dongles to edit my SIM contacts, oh well, I guess we will see over time, along with all the other bits people think a phone should have (I don't mean that sarcastically).

For me it is so strange to have a phone with less functionality than my old Nokia feature phone... the basics of these phones are for me the minimum requirements for a smartphone... a phone that can do less can not be the "smarter" one.

Having some similar threads already we can also close this one but should keep the older ones alive. I think this is really a very much needed basic functionality.

Main thread should be https://together.jolla.com/question/23127/full-control-over-contacts-and-their-storage-location-in-people-app/

This thread can be closed, then.
