Possible to include icon font in SailfishOS?

Would it be technically feasible to add an icon font to the operating system, to be used by app developers?
Icons are a great way to improve the usability of an app. SailfishOS comes with a nice, but limited set of icons. Icon fonts make it easier to use icons along with text, by sharing size, color and other attributes.
Personally I am a big fan of Font Awesome Icons.
