By now we all have more or less some ideas about how Sailfish 2.0 will look like and it looks like opinions are divided (aren't they always?).

I guess most people including the ones that have reservations regarding the missing features in Sailfish 2.0 (that existed in Sailfish 1.X) will want to try out Sailfish 2.0 when the time comes.

But what if they like Sailfish 1.X better? I would like to ask Jolla to make it possible to revert to Sailfish 1.X from Sailfish 2.0 for Jolla phone.

Since I am a regular user, I would like this possibility to be a "normal" one, without using Terminal.

Agreed. What is an improvement in terms of a GUI for a tablet may not be so for a phone. However, I can see that supporting two flavours of OS may stretch the sailors a little.

I am in favor of providing the ability for people to try it out with ample time before it becomes the official release. Obviously, missing features should be reported and Jolla should listen to those reports.

However, i am strictly against two branches of Sailfish. As is, we get roughly monthly updates (which is great) and every update fixes multiple security issues in third party software. Do you want to require Jolla to backport security fixes to the 1.x branch? For how long? As the code bases inevitably will diverge between 2.x and 1.x, just fixing security holes will become more and more tedious and require significant "sailor hours" better spent on improving 2.x and including the missing features there. Or do you want to run a vulnerable version of Sailfish?

Really, when the time comes: participate in testing of 2.x, report issues, report missing features, help make 2.x acceptable for you.

^-- What s/he said. Resourses are limited, and in the end what's the point in staying behind? I personally don't like the constant nagging that when something new comes along, it's automatically shot down as a bad idea. It's not even released yet - it's not final! Calm down people! ...and back to my coffe. Have a nice day you all. :)

I'm also not a fan of having two systems running but if the UI changes as it is shown in so much videos I will not switch to Sailfish 2 and search for another home. I think it is a no-go to remove the close by swipe gesture on a smart phone. I also don't like that the notification center is no longer availiable from anywhere. This together with the patchmanager gives me a so much better user experience than on any other device.

@NuklearFartI think it is a no-go to remove the close by swipe gesture on a smart phone. I haven't seen this removed in any video, if you have, please link it to me. And I really hope it will not be removed - I too have grown to love that feature.

I also don't like that the notification center is no longer availiable from anywhere. It's available when swiped from the left at home screen, although I think it's a drawback to remove it to be available from everywhere. And I saw a video review with the SFOS on Jolla phone, and the notifications were available from the right, so don't know how it will be implemented. I think the swipe from left/right should have some other function than change ambience, or change ambience. So I'm looking forward for the new OS.

Thanks! Have to watch later - YT blocked in company network. :F I'll report if I can't open them.. :)

EDIT: I still like what they've done with the UI, not all of it. The partner screen for example is hideous, I have no need for an advertisement screen, hopefully this will only be in some streaming/operator bundles and not when you buy it from the store/indiegogo. And after looking those videos I really hope they will keep the swipe from up to close. Also I didn't like that you have to swipe and tap to lock the screen. But generally it looked OK for a work in progress. :)
