[HYC] Please be unlike
When I look at the MWC videos and the [HYC] comments around here, there seems to be a more or less change to mainstream. Yes there are people from engaget who slagged the Jolla phone and now they celebrate the tablet. Is engadget and heise ("Jolla phone is shit" they nearly suppressed the phone's reporting, Top: The Jolla tablet, tablet here tablet there) the reference for you? What is Jolla's intention? Being unlike ore do what the others do (simple gestures like all the others) to please engadget and co?
I'd change the last bracket as Jolla's SFOS 1.x userinterface is simpler & higher usability as most other mobileOSs especially the mainstream ones are lacking behind with their "one button to rule them all" interfaces, only Blackberry is standing up to them, Ubuntu failed in usability and design not to speak about FFOS. SFOS 1.x has it's quirks and the "so used to android" press just did not get the point and I believe some got paid off cause they did not bash Canonical for their launcher interface as much as it deserves to be burned alive.

Odorobo ( 2015-03-07 20:43:11 +0200 )editWhen I look at TJC at the moment, all I see is HYC posts about But mommy, I don't wanna... None (or I believe very few) of you have actually used the tablet, or the SFOS in that matter. So you have no idea what it's going to be like when it's done, as in ready. There are some things I'm not happy about, but I'm not going to bash and judge the 2.0, because I don't know how it really is. And I strongly doubt that Jolla is going to delete/remove/erase a few thousand lines of code, because a hundred people of thousands of buyers don't like a feature - they're not that unlike, they do need to make profit. And what I've read, rather sooner than later. First year -1,2M€, second -8M€ (approx.), so hopefully they aren't continuing in that direction, otherwise, there's not going to be a 3.0, or any kind of alliances. Rant over. :)
raketti ( 2015-03-07 20:54:16 +0200 )editJust one comment to this post: We all state that the ui of the Sailfish/2.0 phone is the same as the ui of the tablet. This may be because an Apple tablet is a big Apple phone (ui) and the Android tablet is a big Android phone (ui). We may condemn the Jolla ui team and they have another ui concept for the phone that we do not know. Then it would be unlike. The usability with the actual Sailfish/2.0 ui on the tablet itself seems to be very nice (e. g. great horizontal keyboard).
cy8aer ( 2015-03-07 21:34:16 +0200 )editJolla's goal is NOT to be unlike. Their goal is to develop an efficient and user friendly OS, to listen to the users, don't collect user data, etc. In that sense they are unlike. But it's not a GOAL to be simply unlike.
