I suggest to develop a TOH which make the jolla phone to a highres-audioplayer. Maybe with Pono as a new partner. Perhaps the Pono Online-MusicStore becomes Jollas "iTunes"?

Well, that actually would mean attaching a complete music player to the back of the Jolla, which would make the Jolla itself a complete waste. There is no way the Jolla could share digital music data (files) with the TOH connectors and the player could not share the analog output with the Jolla headphone jack. What is actually possible is no more than what you could share even with a bluetooth device: actual playing song name, buttons for play stoo... thsts all.

Pono is what some "smart" guys try to sell to people that have no idea about music technology.

Your jolla with flac files and a pair of nice in ear headphones is more than enough for your daily needs.

@ApB: No Jollas DAC qualitiy is really miserable. With a pair of good Headphones you will hear a really annoying static noise, everytime anykind of sound is played (even if volume is muted). But I dont think an other Half is a good solution. I just hope Jolla 2 DAC will be better.

I2C is too slow. For the music enthusiast audience there have to be I2S, S/PDIF (optical output combined with a 3.5 jack?) or at least USB Audio kernel modules and OTG power profile for the upcoming devices (USB OTG has been confirmed for the Jolla Tablet already).
