Wysips technology: a discret solar energy & Li-Fi connection for next product generation [not relevant]
Hello to sailors,
After reading a really old comment, i discover a beautiful technology which could be fine to be used for the next generation of jolla products.
Sunpartner has a material technology which could snap the sun energy and provide it for supply the device on power.
There is the glass one (Wysips glass) which take the solar energy through a really thin (ultrathin) and transparent, and could provide it as power.
The other one is Wysips Graphic, function is the same, but is thought to make a non transparent protection cover to a power generator. (Could be used for a TOH, as half part, or Cover one)
Both a lifi compatible.
Lifi is Light Fidelity Communication, is really faster than Wifi, and is Bidirectional too.
It could help for longer autonomy and internet connection (currently it's more interesting for autonomy, the communication infrastructure is not wide installed).

Have a nice sail.
Ps: references on other constructors of this technology are welcome...
I would like to use the LiFi functionality. :)

for me i can represent me on the long term, to have at home, in addition with the wifi connections.
cemoi71 ( 2015-06-08 13:02:39 +0200 )editI would replace wifi with lifi at home and in my car. The lifi interfaces would double as lighting, of course.
In a future house lifi could be the artificial lightsource to be combined with natural light, all distributed from one central point with fiberoptics.
vattuvarg ( 2015-06-09 12:26:43 +0200 )edithmmm, what is for me unclear is, lifi with smartphone has just one way data to smartphone, no exchange. right? we need something else to bring the response back to "server". In car we could use bluetooth. but at home, bl is not really subtl to change on adapted gateway (i think). Wifi is still good because signal are more powerfull (has other disadvantage for this). So no need to have gateway. if indeed, still needed, change is quite nice...
cemoi71 ( 2015-06-09 12:52:53 +0200 )editLiFi is bidirectional. Even if you bounce the light via a wall it's possible to reach 70Mbps.
