Hi everybody, I just stumbled upon an idea that there should be an orientation option for every app like if I launch an app then it should be in the state set by the default in the settings under the display option. However if we want to change the orientation for a specific app like documents, there could be an option to swipe in a specific way to enable portrait, another one to enable landscape and one like D for default whilst the app is open.

I'd personally find this to be very beneficial which saves us from the trouble of changing orient every time trying to read a book on phone!

@chemist The dynamic option doesn't work as intended. Obviously I'd like the liberty to lie down and read but that leaves me in awkward postures. Also, reorienting the sensor every time isn't feasible!

Did you recognize that dynamic mode yet, has a special feature to fix the orientation with a tap-hold&flip gesture for any app?!

What a nice way to welcome a members first question :) Did you read what he's looking for? Intuitive idea IMO, dropping another extra-gesture needed, +1 for that. For humor, there's also step-on&push-hard gesture which causes a permanent black screen in any orientation, if you do it right :D Cheers!

Did not want to sound rude, it is the available way we have atm, and yes, it is not intuitive but you can lock and change the orientation for the minute. A more permanent lock would be nice or an option to have it integrated with the current solution. What I am missing most is that there is no visual feedback, like an indicator for a rotary switch...

Yes you can lock it for sure but browsing menu then tapping settings and then tapping display which gives you an option to change the orientation is the basic functionality you see! Where is the ease of use? I find this thing really frustrating. I've been using my Jolla since Oct '14 but this is something which isn't addressed yet. Visual feedback would be cool but fidgeting with settings every time you want to change the orientation isn't very intuitive. Assume for instance that you need to switch the orientations because dynamic ain't exactly very efficient however you have to go through the agony of selecting the orientation every single time! There should be an option to enable me to change orientations quickly. A few things like brightness and the orientation are what I like to configure manually but then opening settings again? Hope you get the idea.

The "dynamic" mode could have a screen overlay with showing while turning, dynamic sloppy hard lock as icons so you can actually have a direct gesture action to lock the orientation until you either release it with a orientation toggle (sloppy-lock) or until you release it with a touch-gesture (hard-lock)
