I checked the settings for the new carrier. Is there a way to get more info than just the flashing text in the top of the view? What can I do now?

edit: I know how to change the settings and was able to find the operator specific things to enter there. I was not able to connect to mobile data and I think this might be an operator issue but I would like to confirm it before calling the operator and would love to see a more verbose log detailing the nature of the problem. It seems silly that there are no other details than "Problem with connection". Like I know there is a problem, this is what I'm trying to solve here.

Use settings => Mobile network => click toggle Select network automatically and a network screen opens and available network are searched.

You might need to check the data settings for your new carrier and manually update them.

I had the same problem and the issue actually was that the provider has sent me wrong information. Found the correct settings by web-searching. I suggest to get in touch with your provider.

So what are the specific protocols or bands that the provider needs to be supporting for the Jolla phones mobile network to work?

I have a similar issue except I do not know where to go to find the correct apn number and unfortunatly when I go Settings->Mobile networks->Network vodafone NZ (when the line above ['Select network automatically'] has a greyed dot) I get a page [Network] with a list of networks availible (just 1 on the list, 'VodafoneNZ') . There is a pull down menu that contains only 'Search again' , independent of whether I long-press the list entry or not & independent of Developer mode or not. Where do I find the apn & how can I enter it?

{edit} A simplish search of their website revealed the APN's & Once I recond I saw the dotted setting 'Select network automatically' read 'Select network manually' but I have been unable to recreate that option; so now looking for a file I might be able to manual edit? Found: /opt/alien/run/state/providers/ofono/Cellular/* ? Settings seem same as: help.vodafone.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/2706/kw/APN
so I'm guessing hardware incompatibility! Bugger!

read my answer above. in settings click on mobile data at the top you see the current connection with the bullet on the left to enable / disable long press on the name, this will bring up the pulley menue with edit , delete option

Thank you for the reply but unfortunately with my system the long press just doesn't bring up the pulley menu, I do not understand why. [But also, I have seen a set of text files that appear to be where the GUI loads these edits too, and they were already correctly set to the values that I had found on the net anyway.] {edit} I brought a Jolla phone into New Zealand and installed a local vodafoneNZ SIM; voice & wifi worked right away but mobile data wouldn't connect. The line in Settings->Mobile network beneath 'Mobile data' (& above Data roaming) read WAP . I had a lot of trouble getting this entry to long-press to bring up the edit menu. This was required to change the APN in [context1] to 'vodafone' (replacing the old entry of live.vodafone.com); which I believe was the eventual solution to the problem. I tried a lot of things before I succeed in getting the long-press to work, one of the last was changing the permissions on the /var/lib/ofono/5300111... folder & maybe the gprs file as well but I was playing with other things as well & I really don't know what finally got it working. I now have Jolla jolla fully functional in NZ and I am very happy.
