did you try a "btrfs fi show" ?

rudi ( 2015-07-15 19:58:43 +0300 )edit

yes, result was something like this "Total devices 1 FS bytes used 6.42GB devid 1 size 13.75GB used 13.75GB path /dev/mmcblk0p28"

since I have previously done a factory reset, old snapshots of the filesystem might be a cause?

Terminal as root: mount -o subvolid=0 /dev/mmcblk0p28 /mnt/ Then: btrfs subvolume delete /mnt/rec* and last!!! umount /dev/mmcblk0p28

This could help?

btrfs balance start -dusage=0 / this to 25 didnt do a thing, but btrfs balance start / freed enough.

Many have been in the same situation. It's a problem with the btrfs filesystem; looking from the "about product" page you might seem to have lots of free space, but in reality all of your space is allocated by btrfs. A balance operation is required to get your free space back. More info here:

balancing should be happening automagically every tuesday night at 3am afaik...

Yes, except

Notes about Aaslakkajärvi 1.1.6.27: Timer does not seem to run anymore, not even when connected to the charger. Basically this means that automatic timed balancing is disabled in this version of SailfishOS unless it is triggered by some other method.

(From the question linked above)

After seeing this post today, I checked my system with btrfs fi show and noticed it was in need of balancing. I had assumed it would be in good shape, because I often leave the phone charging for the night, on tuesdays too. :) Good thing I checked. I still had 3GB unallocated though (with 5,5 GB of files), so I don't know if that's full enough to trigger the automatic balancing.

The Updater also detected to less space and offered a dialog to run a btrfs balance before upgrading. Worked like a charm. But this offer showed before downloading the update.

Dialogue? It will run a btrfs balance if it thinks there ain't enough space. I was to make an update to 1.1.7.25, but I have now been running balance for 9 days with no end in sight, I do have 6G of data, I do not get the balance go less than 10G of used blocks and it always hangs on the last block to move, clearly either a bug in Jolla's backporting efforts or that the storage is of poor quality and got a read/write error in a location which makes btrfs balance to hang.
