Start calendar, right-aligned label at the top of the bottom half of the view says "Today". Swipe calendar to background, wait for day to change. Bring calendar to foreground, label still says "Today" but is actually showing yesterday. This is a pretty standard scenario as having a view of your agenda requires keeping the calendar app cover visible. Calendar should update the relative date label when brought to foreground.
