Email bug: emails not deleted on server (Outlook.com with IMAP)

Hello. I have configured an Outlook.com (a.k.a. Hotmail) email account using IMAP. When I delete an email, it disappears from the phone but not from the server (it's still in Inbox).

With a Gmail account or an other IMAP account, it works as expected, so it's maybe because Microsoft just discovered IMAP and there is something wrong with them? I know I could use Exchange but it's almost a read-only account, so I prefer to stay simple and don't add useless contacts in my phone. Has anybody encountered the issue? (SailfishOS v1.0.2.5)

Email bug: emails IMAP: default folders not deleted on server but on device correctly mapped (e.g. Outlook.com with IMAP / Dovecot IMAP Server)

Edit: Ok, I have identified the cause. The problem is that the default folders (Sent and Deleted items) are not correctly mapped to the server's ones. So I am now convinced that it's Microsoft who does not follow the same rules than others. The consequence is that, like @redge73, I cannot send any email with the account neither.

Here are the differences between the Outlook.com account and a working account (Zimbra):

  • Oulook folders (on the phone): Sent, Deleted, Outbox, Deleted items.
  • Zimbra folders (on the phone): Sent, Outbox, Deleted items.

When I delete an email:

  • Outlook: goes into "Deleted items". I need to move it to the "Deleted" folder to have it in the deleted folder of the server.
  • Zimbra: goes into "Deleted items", which is mapped with the deleted folder of the server, so it is deleted on the server.

When I send an email: - Outlook: goes into "Outbox" folder, I get a "Problem with sync", the email is never sent. - Zimbra: goes into "Sent" folder, mail correctly sent, appearing on server.

So I don't know how the automatic folders synchronization works and if that could be fixed, but we would need at least to have the possibility to re-map them manually.

When I send an email:server! (I tested by configuring my account manually and using the new automatic settings retrieval, all good!). By the way, the automatic settings retrieval works perfectly for Outlook, we put the email/password and it's done! Very user friendly! Thanks @VDVsx :)
