Having three screens of applicatons on launcer now, the only way to get to the home screen from the last launcher page is to scroll four pages up to reach the home screen. And side swipes are unused. Would be handy to reach the home screen using side swipe(s).

First reply:
Easier way to go to home screen: swipe from bottom of screen to notification screen and do the same once more (it can be done very fast).
..made my question more or less irrelevant. I did not notice after 5 weeks of use, that bottom swiping second time for tghe notification, does not bring you back to the original screen, but to the home screen. Thus it brings another problem, that I did not know to exist. I guess then it is not a problem.
