When you receive an email from a mailing list and use reply, the "To" field is set to the sender of the original email, not the mailing list address.
So far I've tried this with the mer-general list and a google groups list.

There's also this other bug:
https://together.jolla.com/question/1093/bug-when-replying-to-a-message-from-a-contact-cant-edit-to-field/
And the combination of the two means that when you receive a message from a contact on a mailing list, there is absolutely no way to make the reply email go to the mailing list.

EDIT: Just to make this 100% clear, and quoting the Sailfish mailing list as an example, you have 2 cases:
1. If you attempt to respond to an email that was sent _only_ to the mailing list, then you can't respond to it as a) the email client will want to respond to the sender and b) you can't edit the To field if you have the contact in your People application.
2. If you receive an email from a mailing list to multiple contacts, including the mailing list, you can reply to all, but this isn't the case with all mailing lists out there, as sometimes headers are fixed for you. That is, you can reply to all, but the mailing list agent will sort out the headers so that the mailing list is in the reply-to only.
Conclusion: this bug is pretty annoying...
