Somehow I got micro-scratches on the camera that made it appear foggy as if a layer came off the outter lens protector. Now it takes foggy images. It is kinda disappointing as I've never treated any of my previous phones with "special care" still I have not experienced this with any of them.

I'd like to polish it with a hand-tool. Is it plastic? Does it have any additional layers (e.g. UV protection) that I will destroy in the process?
