Screen rendering: weird pixel interpolation

Why do graphic elements like images, texts or lines are rendered different depending on their screen position? This looks like some subpixel rounding artifact and degrades the overall look and feel of the OS, especially when scrolling.

Some noticeable places (though its visible everywhere)

  • Jolla Store overview
  • Home screen when slowly scrolling (quite noticeable with a minimized terminal showing some text)
  • Underlines in links from twitter feed
