As remote pictures embedded in emails are widely used for tracking purposes today, the email app should not load them by default. This "betrays" the user to the tracking industry. Even my old Android 2.3.x doesn't load external content if I don't want it to.
Feature request: load external content on user request (in pulley menu? by tapping on it?), maybe also add a setting for permanently enabling this for people who really like it.
