Troubleshooting phone/network/SIM problem

I find myself, for the third time, having trouble with my phone. It was replaced last year completely, after just under a year of the warranty after an earpiece/speaker issue, which it had been back twice for. Now I'm having regular problems with the phone finding the network/ I assumed at first it was the SIM card (o2/Giffgaff) and got a replacement SIM, which at firest seemed to be better, but it was not to last.

Now I'm regularly finding it is unreachable, I've tried everything, swapping the sims makes the Jolla still unreachable, not possible to connect a call from another phone, and on the Jolla in networks, it states either 'Oops no networks found', with a pull down search just going round and round, and under select network automatically it just reads ' network searching'. or it might read 'network denied', and then five minutes later, I can phone it, and textes come through! I've seen the display show 'disabled' under networking, phoned it, and it's changed to 'enabled' and rang ! Sometimes it lasts the day, or at least i think it does, sometimes it's off again by morning : /

And I have no way of knowing just how long it will 'last' when it finally connects, it is sporadic at best, annoying as sh*t by the hour. I have two phones and have now had to resort to telling people to ring me on the other number if they can't get me on the 'normal' number, which embarassingly is an unfailing cheap WINDOWS phone ! I have not changed any network settings, which have worked since I first got the phone, so in my mind the fact that putting another working sim in the Jolla and getting the same results . . . . . . surely suggests the phone is faulty yet again?

Is there anythig else I can try to troubleshoot or am I just wasting my time and should crack on with sending it back?
