After the update, my phone has frozen twice in a similar way.

Steps:

1. phone in the pocket
2. phone vibrated
3. took my phone off pocket
4. notification led was solid white and display was turned off
5. double tapping touch screen wouldn't wake up the screen
6. pressing power button wouldn't wake up the screen
7. volume controls had no effect either

First time around I placed the phone on a table for about 2 minutes and then the screen woke up. Second time around it took around 15 minutes.

Update: It happened again while in the car. Phone was paired with the car, but I was unable to make phone calls while phone was jammed. After 5-10 minutes, the phone rebooted itself instead of coming back to life like in the previous two cases.
