Mobile network issues

Hello,

I'm a proud owner of Jolla1 and XperiaX running Sailfish OS 2.1.3.7. This OS is amazing and I wouldn't change it for any reason but...

On the Jolla1 phone, I used to experience from time to time (say once a month in average) the symptoms described in the threads below:

  • https://together.jolla.com/question/173695/phone-does-not-find-cell-network/

I first thought the problem was related to the SIM card or to the socket that holds it. I changed the SIM but the problem persisted. Then came the XperiaX and I thought it would be a good opportunity to renew the Jolla1 device with the XperiaX and test it :-) . Alas, the problem persisted ! It became even worse when I went on holiday in France during Xmas (I'm living in Switherland). As soon as I crossed the border, the XperiaX displayed the greyed square in place of the usual network strength icon (see image). These threads describe the issue:

  • https://together.jolla.com/question/177397/xperia-x-roaming-does-not-show-local-operator-and-does-not-show-connection/

When the problem occur (image https://postimg.org/image/3wwnua3r1/), I can still recieve phone calls but cannot place calls nor send SMS nor use the mobile data. A reboot does fix the problem but not allways. Sometimes 3 reboots are necessary.

As I said, I love Jolla phone and Sony is a very nice sourcing choice but for now I moved back to Android because of these issues.

I'm willing to help and collaborate whith someone to solve this issue, I know well linux for using it since a long time. Is there a way to capture logs and then send them for verifications to a developper (just an idea :-) )? I also recognize it is not easy to solve an issue that doesn't happen systematically. But with the roaming issue, next time I'm crossing the border I'll be able to reproduce the issue.

HTH, Pascal.

FYI: I live in Switzerland and use Aldi Mobile as provider who is operated by Sunrise Mobile, one of the 3 mobile operators licenced in Switzerland (Salt, Swisscom, Sunrise).
