The signal app from Android doesn't show any contacts, so I can't start a chat, unless they send me a message first. Really strange is, that when I use the standalone desktop client within windows, contacts are recognized ... I really don't understand why, but it's annoying I don't see my contacts on the phone.

I'm (still) using the Jolla "1" phone.

I really don't understand why, but it's annoying I don't see my contacts on the phone.phone. Settings have been set to share contacts with Android, but this doesn't work for Signal (although it works for Whatsapp).
