As i see the starting position is the same as for the Sony Xperia device. Strong separation between hardware and software responsibility. Both companies allow (welcome) installing other OSes on there devices - but you have to reinstall the original (Android) OS to get support from the hardware company.
The community build for the Fairphone2 is nearly perfect (including dual sim support) - a BIG THANKS to mal for all the work and time spending on the port :-).
But with out the foreign license software.
The licencing and sell modalities for the SailfishX could be the same for the Sony and Fairphone device (including restrictions to incompatible hardware changes).
So the early problem who is responsible if an error occurs is solved with the sony deal and can also be done with fairphone.
I would spend my missing Tablet refund (second part) buying a license for my fairphone2 :-) ..
