Frame on lock screen to embed widgets

May it be possible to provide API-access to a frame in the middle of the lock screen?
Then developers could make some kind of "widgets" there. Maybe you could scroll through the widgets by flicking left/right (I think Android has something like that). Widgets for controlling media players, watching GIFs, displaying owner information, etc. would then be easy tasks for app developers without conflicting with app covers and for users there would be no need to scroll down to the app covers.

For developers it could be an optional property "lockScreenCover: <component>"

A global system setting could block or whitelist apps from displaying the lock-screen cover.
