[Xperia X/XA] White screen of death with 3.3.0.16

I have updated both X and XA to 3.3.0.16 and have already experienced WSOD on both devices.

The changes to previous versions of Sailfish OS:

  • I have set up the encryption (also SDCards to automount with crypto-sdcard)
  • I have set up Nextcloud account (parallel to GhostCloud app)

I can start hybris recovery and check/access all the partitions. But the prompt to enter the unlock pin never comes. Re-flashing the system helps, but after some time I got another WSOD on XA after a reboot. Also, I'd rather not set up everything again.

Is there a way to repair the boot process? Or should I just back up root and home to sdcard, reflash and overwrite the data from backups?

EDIT: Duplicate of this question. The solution is to remove the defender app via Recovery Shell.
