Many apps like Gallery, Media and Documents use tracker for indexing and building a database of media files. Currently the directories (+subdirectories) Desktop, Documents, Download, Music, Pictures, Videos and the sdcard are whitlisted to become indexed.
But sometimes you may want to exclude certain directories from becoming indexed. Often the sdcard contains files which shouldn't appear in the Jolla apps.
For example I once put the html version of an e-book into /home/nemo/Documents (as it's a document). This resulted in the Gallery app being crowded with small icons and images from that book. That's why I don't want this folder to become indexed.

There was an app for the Nokia N900 called Tracker Config. We need something like this. The best would be an integration of this into Jolla Settings.
