Apparently there is no way to lock the device when wanted, so that it's required to enter the lock code to open the device. There should be a lock command in the lock screen menu (if the lock code is set in the settings).
There are times when I just want to lock the device right away without waiting for the lock time to get the device locked.

Edit: Alternative/additional ways for immediate locking (there are already a number of other requests for the pulley menu):
Except for the menu entry, there should be a visual response by the handset showing that indeed the device is locked (e.g. the unlock-keypad being shown briefly).

EDIT (13-04-15): Double tap power button to instantly lock feature was released at some point, closing question as such.
