If you enable dynamic orientation and hold your finger on the screen to temporarily disable the dynamic orientation, everything goes as expected. However, if you change the volume while in this orientation (portrait when device is in landscape, and vice versa), the screen orientation changes to the device's orientation again, as if dynamic orientation wasn't temporarily disabled.
This seems to have been introduced with update 1.0.7.16.
