[bug] Latest Android support update created icon in launcher

I noticed there was an update to the Android support today so I updated it, and now the icon for the Android support is in my launcher. Tapping on the icon does nothing except making the screen scroll back to the overview of running apps just like it would when loading a normal app, except that nothing happens after that, it just stays on that view until you do something or the screen times out.

Rebooting fixes this issue, but I'm still curious as to what caused it.
