Mail app does not handle invitations
Currently there's no way to accept/accept tentatively/decline invitations (at least from MS Exchange and Zimbra) in Mail app which would also insert the event in a calendar (user selected). Also the appointment cannot currently be created/sent neither from Mail nor from Calendar app.

Update: Planned to be implemented in Q3 2015 according to development roadmap available here.
