I would love to be able to charge the tabled by induction. The obvious reason is that I don't want to connect a cable when I leave it to make sure it has any battery left when I need it again... But there is more:
I want a Dock. Not necessary advanced dock with lots of features, but just a wall dock where the tablet can function as a wallboard/calendar/weather station/smart-home-control-station or whatever when it is docked. If the charging cable is connected to the dock instead of the tablet it will be much easier to dock and undock it.
While this could be done with some external connectors (as described in the question above), I would prefer is this dock was just a "dumb" charging panel that can hold the tablet in place. External connectors may become broken/bent/dirty if you don't handle them with care (depending on construction obviously), and the tablet will have to be placed in the exact same position every time you dock it. Induction makes this much easier.
