privacy -> wide crypto support

Hi, the tablet and sailfish OS is promoted with the general keyword privacy. I like to suggest some features for the OS that focus on crypto tecniques to realize privacy for the users:

  • CAs (as CAcert or let's encrypt project)
  • mailencryption (PGP, SMIME)
  • messaging (OTR via jabber and other messengers)
  • storage / flash encryption
  • password safe / key ring to hold app secure data at a strong encrypted space under OS control
  • kill switch / watchdog / theft detection (e.g. check if a certain file is still available at your home server. If not -> ask for stopcode or erase all data)

That techniques are AFAIK well known, but usually not good embedded to the OS at default configuration. I think it's worth to design the OS to e.g. support encrypted mails out of the box by embedding CAcert root certificate, enabling PGP access with key files at an external volume, ...

Disclaimer: This wouldn't help you to get fort knox security to a mobile, as esp. the physical access is highly dangerous. BUT (imho) it would help to improve the current situation step by step that a user is endangered esp. by remote access / sniffing data / ...
