Camera app: tapping on software shutter button auto-focus on the shutter button area, rather than taking a picture

Encountered this an hour ago:

  1. Launch the camera app.
  2. Tap on the software shutter button.
  3. It auto-focuses on the shutter button area, rather than taking a picture!

Closing the Camera app and re-launching it doesn't help. Didn't try the Volume hardware buttons though (wasn't aware those buttons could be used as shutter). After I rebooted the phone, the issue was gone.

My phone is running on latest system software version, 1.1.1.27 (Vaarainjarvi).
