[idea] Enhancement of push/swipe from left edge

When pushing apps to background I noticed that I always swipe from the right edge. Now for me the left edge is almost never used and seems redundant (holding the phone in the right hand).

From this perspective the left edge could be used for (many) additional menu items. The idea would be to push/swipe from the left edge to pull out an additional menu that could be used by apps.

I am right-handed. So at least the enhancement should be optional by interchanging left and right sides in settings.

Still there would be a bunch of principles to be discussed, so think of this idea as a 'condensation nucleus'.

Edit: If one edge swipe brings up the extra menu, another edge swipe (same side) still could eventually push the app to background. Now with home event screen carousel in SF 2.0 this does not seem inconsistent either imo.
