The only volume that can be configured from settings is ringtone so keyboard sounds and alert sounds hurt ears when listening to music with earbuds and using IRC client or anything that causes sounds.
I think that in addition to there being more control on which things have which volume, when plugging earbuds or speaker or anything, all volumes should be set to low automatically so they don't hurt ears and potentially damage them.
