Never paid an attention to it before, but today I had to manually enter a phone number forwarded to me via sms. As it was sent to me in a 'wrong' format (with dashes and spaces) I had to switch couple of times between sms and phone app. What I've noticed is that sms app cover shows sorta 'headers' of last 3 conversations.
My idea is if there is an opened dialogue in sms app, to show on the cover the last message in that dialogue, so you could ready it without actually opening it. In my case it would save me a few taps, as I could have a look at the number by just swiping from the side and not releasing my phone app.
