Right now Jolla concentrates on Europe and Asia, and the technical limitations of the current handset modem prevent it from being used in North America. While there was already a request to extend frequencies coverage, this is about extending official support (sales, warranties and rest of the logistics). Jolla can face various challenges with this, ranging from FCC approval to defending against patent trolls and patent privateers like MS and Apple, but that should be addressed nevertheless.
