Automatic time and time zone should be separate settings.

At the moment I can only change both entries at a time. Also it is not clear to me:

  • where from does the phone get the location information? (MCC from mobile operator - I guess.)
  • where from does the phone get the time information? (Some ntp server - I guess.)

This leads to the question which time and timezone is set when there is no coverage and maybe to WLAN connection as well. There are suggestions in this forum that the phone will default to Helsinki, Finland in some situations.

In general, timezones are a major PITA if it comes to syncing calendar entries with several people over several machines. For me, (manually) controlling the timezones on my machines is crucial and reduces errors to some degree.

Feature request: Make timezone setting a separate entry (i.e.: manual/automatic by mcc/automatic by gps)
