When assisted GPS is on, the phone seems to be using nearby wifi networks to determine its position through the HERE service. Thus, when it sees my home wifi network, it thinks I'm at home, which is OK. But if I turn wifi off in Settings (to save power or whatever), it refuses to believe I'm still at home (even if GPS coverage is otherwise good enough). The GPS seems to jump around my neighborhood, to all kinds of positions outside the range of my home wifi network. Apparently, it believes that because it can't see my home wifi, I must necessarily be far away from it.

I think that if wifi is turned off, then the GPS shouldn't use the HERE service this way. It should use the real GPS, or the cell towers or whatever, but it should not use the lack of wifi as evidence for anything when wifi is turned off.

This is particularly annoying when I'm walking around the city with GPS-using apps and games, and have the wifi off because I don't need it there. (I rarely even need wifi indoors, for that matter! I've got 4G with a good data plan.)
