I came across very upsetting articles about phone numbers of my personal address book being collected by facebook WITHOUT PERMISSION or notification. This has happened in phones when adding facebook details to people in my phone's address book (using "sync contacts", which at least adds facebook pictures to recognized contacts).
I am worried about my privacy and do not trust facebook with my own or my friends phone numbers. I have also already enabled the "sync contacts" feature on Jolla and do not honestly expect facebook would delete the data they have (if they have it).
I would really like to know: 1. Did my Jolla phone actually send all my private phone numbers to facebook? 2. Is there a way to keep the downloaded contact pictures without sending any new contacts I might add (if I disable "sync contacts)?
Here are two of such articles: http://www.cauce.org/2011/08/facebook-has-stolen-all-the-contents-of-mobile-address-books-including-private-telephone-numbers.html http://www.theguardian.com/technology/blog/2010/oct/06/facebook-privacy-phone-numbers-upload (note that the facebook UI is different now from what's described in the articles and it seems more difficult to verify if facebook has stolen my contacts or not, since all of my facebook-known phone numbers are no longer displayed in one place.)

It should be possible to just pull the contacts from facebook without sending anything. But I have an ill hunch that's not the way FB have implemented the APIs.

If contacts cannot be synced without sending the address book to FB, could Jolla please put a nice big warning screen "your contacts will be sent to FB and there will be no way to remove them from their databases" each time a user is activating the sync with facebook.
