It would be good to have an option to turn off zoom when selecting text. Zoom option is very good if you are selecting single words or parts of them, but not that good if you want to select for example 7 lines. Alternative solution would be zooming out if you are selecting more than one line (you move to select another line up/down) and possibly zooming in if you later spend more time on certain line - let's say that last 7th line.

Right, a gradual (1) zoom out during up/down scroll, and quick (2) zoom back in when drag stays in the non-scrolling area for more than 1s (3), could work. (Options suck.)

1) gradual so as to not be disorienting

2) quick so as to not interfere with precision for longer than necessary

3) short delay to allow going from scrollup <-> scrolldown without crazy-bouncing in/out

On a somewhat similar note, I often get a little frustrated to select a text from and to the first or last character in a line. Often I swipe away the application (to the right or left - depending on the character), even if I already marked some text.

i want a similar feature which stops zooming in by such a large factor! it creates a very jumpy and bouncy user interface and usually results in me deleting the text i wanted to select and copy.

Not an answer but only way to post images that convey the issue of excessive zoom on text selection here in the TinyEdit native sailfish app. This happenes when selecting the text by long pressing then selecting right most expansion box and holding it.
