The small screentop notification can be accidentally selected by tapping if it appears while you are doing another gesture in the same area. I believe it could be useful, at least optionally, to select it by sliding left/right rather than by a simple tap.

I added the UX tag so this question can be found easier.

@Giacomo Di Giacomo: Well, something would need to be done that indicates you need to slide the notification, otherwise it would be rather confusing for users. Also I wonder if the notification is big enough for comfortable sliding - elements you just need to click can be smaller than elements you need to slide.

@MartinK The user should know, as he needs to know that he needs to swipe horizontally to go to the home screen. The notification as it is now should be big enough for sliding, but it can be made a bit taller.

what actually bothers me much more is that you can't hide it mannualy and you always have to wait for several seconds for it to disappear if you need to access top of the screen in your current app. I would propose to add jesture to hide it (may be swiping it up or to sideways). For me it would be much more useful

I was thinking about swiping up to dismiss but I don't know if the length of the swipe would be too short to be practical.

I'd like to see a sliding approach:

  • Slide right to dismiss,
  • slide left to select (and open its connected app) and
  • tap to show an overlay animation that explains left and right slide, kind of like the animation you get when you tap on an icon at the lock screen.

This prevents accidental tapping leaving the user to decide if he wants to take care of the notification or just dismiss it.
