Just got a brand new Jolla phone. Running Sailfish 1.1.6.27 Aaslakkajärvi. I've tried to install Yandex, Aptoide, and the chinese market app, but none of them will start. So I can't dl any android apps. Android compatibility was one of the reasons I wanted this phone. Any ideas how to solve this?

you installed "android support" (store category "jolla") and have it running, too?

  1. Make sure you installed "Android support" from Jolla store (checkmark in Jolla store confirms installation)
  2. Download and install "Sailfish Utilities" from store, there you can restart Android support - or simply reboot
  3. If that doesn't work, delete and reinstall Android support
  4. If you still have no success, remove Android support again and delete remaining files from system --> see this guide (without Google play stuff): http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1406350&postcount=47
  5. Still no success? Well...reset your Jolla device and start again from 0.

Sucks that it doesn't work right away and I hope one of those solutions work, this certainly shouldn't happen. I hope you find a solution asap since Android support on Jolla is nice (especially with upcoming upgrade 1.1.7).

In case you find a solution please share it :-)

EDIT: Just had a similar problem with a new Jolla. Aptiode and Yandex couldn't open after install. But restarting Android service solved it.

Sorry, I don't understand the "guide" behind your link in step 4. Where do I find these? Or should I just reset the device?

For step 4 you can also use "Dalvik Cleanup" from Openrepos.net / Warehouse: https://openrepos.net/content/schturman/dalvik-cleanup-u16-only. The developer says though it's only for Update 16, Björnträsket 1.1.7.xx users. This little app was created with the scripts I posted earlier.

If you're not sure about that stuff or the guide above, I would recommend to reset the phone... After all it shouldn't take to much time.

Go to Settings and chose "Backup". There you can create a new backup which saves Accounts, Pictures, Messgages, Contacts, etc... Now you need a microSD card and in the pulley menu you can chose: "Copy to memory card" (after reset it's "Restore from memory card").

In case you have no microSD card, backups will be deleted with device reset!! You would have to transfer the backup file to a computer, if you need help with that please ask.

Btw, did you try to download "F-Droid" from Jolla store? You have to search for it in store. This one usually always starts after a fresh install (don't ask me why...).
