In my opinion, the Android privacy permissions system is horribly broken and has to be fixed. You have to accept all or nothing, so you end up giving all apps full permissions to everything on your phone. I would like to suggest an alternative:

Wrap alien-dalvik in a fake environment and let users choose what real data you reveal to an Android app.

The first time an Android application asks for some specific class of data the user gets to choose whether to grant that application access to real data or if some fake default should be given instead. The classes can be chosen by Jolla, they do not have to directly correspond to the Android security permissions.

If anyone has any further ideas on how to get control Android over apps, don't be shy, let's hear them! Jolla might listen :-)

When I bought Jolla I though it was possible to filter permissions from Android applications.

Something like this: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/06/23/xprivacy-gives-you-massive-control-over-what-your-installed-apps-are-allowed-to-do/

I think it could make Jolla more different from Android phones.

Yes, that looks like a great source of inspiration for a feature like this!

I agree 100% with this Post!!! The reason I bought a Jolla phone was I believed I could already have a better control of android apps with sailfish OS. I am very unlucky that this is not possible. So it would be really awesome if you could make the changes that it is possible to give android apps only fail Informations!

As an example of further building on this idea:

Add default settings for Android permissions that will automatically grant or deny access to real data to all new apps, and control access rights for any particular app via the new settings screen.
