+1 here. You folks did great work and implemented about 90% of what I missed for the UI for the last year using my Jolla-phone. Despite, of course, caldav sync.
If you're still having issues with CalDAV in 1.1.9.x please collect logs (as I've described in various CalDAV TJC threads) and email them to chris dot adams at jolla dot com - I had believed that most of the issues with CalDAV were resolved in 1.1.9 (there is one which I know about, which causes duplicates to be created occasionally, which I am investigating - but other than that?)

I am quite happy with the Sailfish 2.0. Maybe because I was expecting something bad AKA "Pessimisti ei pety" ;)
There are some things to polish like animation speeds etc., but generally I have not found many items that feel worse than before. It's nice to see changes are improvements, not just changes.
Of course there are some things like controlling ringtone volume with volume buttons that I hate (and some people like), but even though I hate it it's only a minor issue.
And hopefully we get those four app shortcuts back! System works great when there are no apps open: unlocking phone shows shortcuts for few seconds, same thing happens when you touch your (empty) home screen. I hope to get this same functionality working also when there are apps :)
But overall, I found SF 2.0 to be a very positive update and I have to say I am now more excited about the tablet also! Great job sailors!

I really like this too! Fresh, fluid, works well. One could do things differently, but it looks good and works smart!
I only regret is the new pulley glow design, which I think is much more plain and too simple.

2.0 UX failed in my eyes because it didn't bring any efficiency, rather on the opposite.
Beside the bugs (which of course is natural after a huge release) the UX is poorly thought through. Its to the point I don't even want to pick up the phone from the table to do things with it, because its just too awkward and tedious to work the UI.
I don't care much if it looks nice, it has to be practical which it is not anymore. Its a step down from the previous versions.
I don't say that it can't be fixed. Probably some changes (I think all of the nuances has been reported here) will make things useful. But in its current state its nothing that I want in the Jolla.
My main gripes with the new design is:
What surprises me the most is that things that could have ACTUALLY have helped usability and natural feeling (like app category icons instead of colored shapes) wasn't addressed at all. The biggest concern is that neither 1.0 or 2.0 have an easy way of reaching the most important system configurations (BT, WIFI, 3G and so on). Ok, its said to end up on the notifications screen later on, but I don't think it belongs there, too much stuff will end up there.
My wife got the update today. I suggested her to skip that because it is not user friendly.
I am also very surprised that so many doesn't question these things more than they do here. It gives me a feeling of fanboyism in the Jolla community. Lack of well-founded criticism will definitely not help the company mature SFOS to the point it becomes a big player.
I agree on that the ui/ux of 2.0 isn't thought through. Going from 1.1.7 to 1.1.9 breaks most of my flow. When sailfish 1 was released it was a novel way of doing things (besides blackberry 10) and while it was new it had a consistency through the whole OS. With the new release it feels that some things are redesigned to meet up with users coming from "tapping" OS, like OSX and android, while other things are kept with gestures making the whole experience mixed between tap and gestures giving a feeling of incompleteness or not thought through. When designing such large system as a phone OS you can't just patch stuff without including the bigger picture.

As more people use Android/OSX than sailfish (not only for the apps) the former must do something right. The issue is that if sailfish tries to mimic those "tapping" OS it will miss its identity imo. And it will also compete on the same functionality, and there it will loose on the apps count...
Even apple have implemented some gestures to remove messages, move back and forward in the browser etc, so why should sailfish move the other way - toward taps?

Doesn't the configurable quick access row (or how this is called) in the settings view cover this?
Regarding questioning/fanboyisme/lack of critic: I don't think that it is about these but rather about different tastes or requirement. For example as I have severals sim cards I was always searching which provider is being active atm. This seems to be covered much better now. But if someone only ever uses one sim card I see that this information is not so important for him/her.

And even then you can't guarantee that you end up in the start view of settings, as it opens with the last view active if it was already running.

Yeah, i absolutely agree, aside from having to getting used to the few new gestures and settings, i am so happy i made the update. It seems like at least twice as flippy (fluid) as before. Android apps run better than ever. Before the Update i would not get any notification from apps like Threema, Telegram, eBay and such, until i manually started the app. Now everything works like a charm and also the keyboard bug with some Android apps(When entering a password the keyboard would activate shit key after each character entered) appears to be resolved. Also apps appear to be starting a hell of a lot faster than before the update. So far i haven't seen anything break yet. Battery usage appears to be a bit higher than before but it still runs like 35-40h on one charge, so i don't mind ;) Keep up the good work Jolla!

Looks and reactivity are amazing ! i agree with it. But there's some UI changes that are really disapointing me ..
I understand that somes users need different things, but why don't give the choice to each user ? Instead of killing the user experience for some users, why not implement new feature like settings ? I think it's the best way to make grown the OS, and to offer the best user experience for each user.
I tried the 1.1.9.28 but until all patches i need aren't available, i'm going to use this 1.1.7 ..
Sure, patches will help us and i want to thanks Ancelad, Eugenio, nodevel, and coderus for all them patches. But Jolla team should think about doing settings sometimes ..

Just saw a detail video about Sailfish 2.0 UI and now I'm able to give my personal answer/opinion:
* TOP NOTCH ! Absolutely gorgeous. *
But despite such superlatives, the UI is simple, modest and to the point. Exactly what I like (and kind of expected after this nicely restrained announcement video). Of course design taste differs and I also can relate to some of the opinions above. But from me: congratulations and many thanks for your very good work!

Maybe this will be corrected, as I am not the only one missing this. But the focus should now be on functionality, not UI. A better calender, please! Integrated SIP VoIP, please!
