In previous versions there was this short green/orange/red bar between the lock screen and home screen. Now on 1.1.9.28 I have to go to the settings to see my instant messaging status. I would like some kind of status indication back.

Edit: Still missing from 2.0.1.7.

I has been moved as a feature, but I agree that it should be in a more easy to reach place.

What about displaying it as a colored dot inside the status bar?

Even worse than the missing indicator, there isn't an easy way to change your IM online status.

I think this would be less critical if IM connectivity was reliable. However, I don't think this is even possible, given that XMPP ports are often blocked by public networks/hotspots. Bouncing off a proxy automatically if needed and reliably reconnecting after dropouts or wlan/mobile data switches would probably mostly obviate a need for an indicator, but I don't see that happening. So please put back an indicator so when we drop off the network and become unreachable to the world, at least we stand a chance to notice!

Maybe an expandable Events-View widget is needed here, similar to the Weather widget. Normally it will show current status, long press to expand and you can set status to 'away' or 'offline'. Can be enabled or disabled through the Settings > System > Events menu.

This will keep the Home-Screen cleaner, and the IM Status is just a quick swipe away like before.

EDIT: This is still missing in 2.0.0.10 ... just about all settings items can be added to the events view but not presence.

Also, the visibility of the current status of the presence in the Events-View is optional with the upcoming feature of adding Settings-Shortcuts to the Events-View. I think it will be possible to add the presence menu from the settings to the favourites. Then it is almost like @r0kk3rz suggested.

Seems it was taken offline now.

pity, as the feature is still missing in 2.0.5.6

The patch is now intergrated in the Ultime statusbar patch: https://openrepos.net/content/ancelad/patch-ultimate-statusbar-patch

Anyway, I think this feature deserves to be included by default. In the statusbar or in the event view. Specially if there's a plan to update telepathy and include more services like telepathy-morse for telegram.

@hook presence indicator was merged by this patch https://openrepos.net/content/ancelad/patch-ultimate-statusbar-patch

@Ancelad, I noticed then, yes :)

Too bad that Telepathy is still missing many modern XEP …I just switched to Conversations (and Gajim on my KDE laptop).

Jolla 2.0.1.7 early access, this is still missing, not in the favorite part, not in the shortcut parts...they just forgot it :-(

There is not even a patch for it...does nobody use the IM system?

This question is about the indicator. The missing presence shortcut is reported in another question. After all, answers aren't the good way to add new information to the bug report.

I would recommend to wait until next release, if you would like to have a look at release notes, there Jolla showed us, that next release will bring a configurable favorite part in eventview, so you can add the IM Status to eventview and it should be like you are used to?
