Sure its a good way for wallpaper/ringtone combinations, but I like my wallpaper to stay if I set the phone silent. That does not mean, that I wouldn't like a silent ambiance also.
In short: I miss the Lock Screen and the fast actions it presented (like silenting the phone)

As stated in the development roadmap, the option in the lock screen pulley menu will come back:
[cbeta 1.1.9] Bring back the quick option to silence the device to lockscreen

If you do not want to use an ambiance for silencing the phone just use the volume buttons.

I fully agree. I would also like to be able to silence the phone from the pulley menu on the lock screen.

Previously you needed only to unlock the phone, pull down and select silent mode and swipe from top to lock again.
