Manually close apps without removing the covers

In the SailfishOS 2.0 UI the low memory killer now closes apps without removing the app covers. The User, on the other hand, can only close apps with removing the cover simultaneously. I like the new possibility to keep the app cover always on the same place, so I think the user should have the same possibility as the low memory killer to close an app while keeping the cover.

The easiest and smartest way to implement this feature would be like this:

After long-pressing on the home screen, only the covers of killed apps show the "x" to close, while running apps show a different symbol. I think the IEC power symbol would be an appropriate sign:

After tapping on the Power sign, the app is "switched off", so the cover is greyed out and shows an "x":

In principle this means that closing (I would then call it "switching off") an app and closing its cover are becoming two different tasks.

Only thing I could think right after seeing this (besides more actions and that I'm generally ok with the things they behave at the moment) was, this.

Please don't change it this way.

Multitasking view and covers in particular are for currently running apps. For the other apps, you have the launcher that is now accessible with one gesture (just like the home screen).

If you want to have some favorite apps, then put them in a visible spot in the launcher. There is no advantage of having a dead cover over an icon in launcher whatsoever.

@nodevel: Yes, that's a good point. The app covers are meant to be the essential components for multitasking, rather than just shortcuts. It is due to the low RAM in the phone, that they often behave like that in SailfishOS 2.0.

I have to admit that this request is rather one for a workaround than for a real feature: By manually switching off an app, you prevent the low memory handler to switch off another app that you might need more urgently. This is not a missing feature, it's just workaround for a problem that wouldn't exist if we had more RAM in the Jolla :).

How will look the tablet home screen, with only a few apps on the screen, because their got killed from the low memory killer? This is the real reason for such a desicion.
